User Question: If somebody entered in USA legally and now waiting for Work Permit & SSN, is there any difficulty they face if they fly from one state to another?

Expert

Expert Answer: If you entered the U.S. legally and have a pending work permit (EAD) and SSN application, you should generally have no issue flying domestically.

1. **TSA Requirements**: You will need a valid government-issued ID for airport security, such as your passport from your home country or any other acceptable form of identification listed on the TSA website.
2. **Immigration Status**: Since your status is pending, ensure you carry proof of your legal presence, such as your I-797C receipt notice from USCIS.
3. **ICE/CBP Presence**: Immigration enforcement is rare at domestic airports, but in some states (e.g., Texas, Florida, or border states), CBP officers might conduct checks. Having proof of your pending status can help avoid complications.
4. **State-Specific Considerations**: Some states have stricter immigration enforcement policies, so be cautious when traveling to or from states with more aggressive immigration enforcement.

In most cases, domestic travel should not be an issue, but carrying proper documentation is always advisable.
